A LEAP FOR INCLUSIVITY: DSWD STANDARDS BUREAU AND NAPC-PWDSC COLLABORATE ON SOCIAL PROTECTION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
The Standards Bureau (SB) joins the third quarter meeting of the National Anti-Poverty Commission’s (NAPC) Persons with Disabilities Sectoral Council (PWDSC) in Nueva Ecija on September 17, 2025 to strengthen social protection and streamlining registration systems for persons with disabilities.
A major highlight of the meeting was the presentation by SB officials on improving the documentation of persons with disabilities within social welfare programs.
SB Assistant Bureau Director Cynthia V. Ilano and Social Welfare Officer V Anna Maria Alexa Ledesma provided a detailed overview of the registration and licensing processn through the Harmonized Electronic License and Permit System (HELPS), emphasizing its role in ensuring inclusivity and proper documentation for persons with disabilities accessing essential services.
The gathering brought together various partners from different agencies to share their expertise. PhilHealth and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) shared valuable insights relevant to the persons with disabilities sector. Meanwhile, One Mission Pte. Ltd. Director Anne Tay from Singapore showcased their innovative technologies for managing relief charities.
Lastly, Fr. Arnold Abelardo, CMF, Director of Ako ang Saklay Inc., introduced their foundation’s work, which empowers marginalized communities nationwide through programs focusing on education, healthcare, and livelihood. (MGCBA)
